Dubonnet is the best-selling aperitif in America. Best described as a sweetened and fortified wine, its original calling was as an aperitif wine, one typically consumed before dinner to awaken and stimulate the appetite. While still popular as an aperitif, the brand has also become an ingredient in many contemporary cocktails. Considered the grand dame of aperitifs, Dubonnet was created by Frenchman Joseph Dubonnet in 1846 as a restorative elixir for the French Foreign Legion on their missions to Africa and Asia. The brand's two versions are still made according to the same secret recipes.
Light and refreshing, DUBONNET ROUGE is produced on a base of premium red wine that is infused with a proprietary blend of herbs, spices, peels and quinine. The wine is fortified with grape spirits to an elevated strength of 19% alcohol by volume. The famed aperitif is characteristically aromatic with a delicate body and a palate of tangy fruit. The finish is long and vaguely effervescent.

The distinctive flavour of Pernod is created through a combination of star anise and several aromatic herbs and plants. The secret of Pernod begins with its essence, which includes star anise, also known as badiane. Taken from the fruit of an exotic tree, star anise is exclusively cultivated in remote regions of North Vietnam and Southern China.
The distinctive star shaped spice is characterised by an unmistakably hot and sugary taste and pervasive aniseed scent. Once distilled to extract its essential oils, the essence becomes the anethole which is then combined with a select combination of aromatic herbs. When water is introduced to the final drink it is the anethole that liberates that unforgettable aroma transforming the original golden colour to an enigmatic opal cloud known as the louche.

A unique spirit... combined with the subtle harmony of bitter and sweet oranges. Every sip of Cointreau is an extraordinary, multi-sensory taste journey. It begins with the scent of oranges, then the chill of ice, leading to the strength of alcohol. This is followed by a smooth, warming sensation and the lingering afterglow of bitter and sweet oranges.
Cointreau's subtle taste originates from the blend of fragrant peels from bitter and sweet oranges, which have always been carefully grown and meticulously selected for their quality. Today, the Master Distiller at Cointreau follows the concerns of Edouard Cointreau to recreate the wonderful balance between the sweet and bitter orange peels, adapting the process according to each year's harvest. The perfect balance… a little magic!
